EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
With financial aid from the Barbara Jones Special Needs Fund the program provides financial support for emergencies (such as rent, utilities, doctor bills, clothing, food) to individuals/families in Goodhue County.
We advocate on behalf of Hispanic individuals, families and the whole Hispanic community with schools, healthcare providers, landlords, government offices, law enforcement agencies, non-profits, and many others.
We can help with information on numerous topics, including:
- getting settled in Goodhue County
- finding housing, employment, medical care, English classes, income tax assistance
- immigration, tenants’ rights, and other legal issues
- obtaining a “matrícula consular” (ID card) from the Consulate of Mexico, or ID cards for nationals of other countries
We can also assist with completing passport applications for American-born children, and for adult/child home-country passports.
We interpret in person/by phone with schools, hospitals, churches, employers, non-profit organizations, motor-vehicle-licensing office, insurance companies, landlords, law-enforcement agencies, government agencies, and more.
We charge a small fee for translation of documents, such as home-country birth certificates, marriage certificates, identification papers and letters.
Our in-house notary public can help with standard notarial services in MN.
In order to inform the Hispanic community about events, activities, news, etc. we offer a bimonthly newsletter by mail. Contact us if you’re interested to sign up.
